June 2017 – McGrigor Hall Concert – Frinton

On Sunday 25th June , the McGrigor Hall Fourth Avenue , was the venue of the Main Bands band premiere performance in Frinton on Sea and the only thing it could be described as is a resounding success!

The audience were treated to a variety of music from The Shows, The charts, The Movies and more traditional Brass Band repertoire, including, Breezing Down Broadway, Singing in the Rain, David Bowie’s Life on Mars, and a beautiful arrangement of The Seal Lullaby.  Our young quartet, who received high praise when they finished runners up in the East Anglian Brass Band Association’s Solo and Quartet Competition, entertained everyone with their performance of “A Southern Gospel Suite”.  Just when we thought the people of Frinton had had enough they called for a double encore, first a rousing sing-a-long to Tom Jones in Concert, followed by a selection of Abba classics from the show Mamma Mia.

Needless to say the band thoroughly enjoyed themselves and can’t wait to be invited back.  The band must also say a huge thank you to Tendring District Council for the donation of a wonderful raffle prize, a pair of tickets to ride the Tornado steam train from Walton to Colchester! We thank you for your on-going support.
The concert was a resounding success and has provided much needed funds for future band projects in the community and beyond.
