As part of band development, Tendring Brass have just had a enjoyable but tiring weekend of training in preparation for a contest in Leicester in November.
This was led by ex-Royal Marine Musician David Johnson, who now works as a freelance conductor.
We started with an Open Rehearsal on Friday night to which we invited fellow brass players to join us in playing technically challenging repertoire.
Saturday and Sunday took the form of full band and sectional practice helped by visiting guests from Haverhill band. Thanks must go to them for giving up part of their weekend to aid us.
David certainly worked us hard and helped us interpret and understand the music in a more detailed way, enabling us to create a great sound.
We certainly felt challenged and are very grateful to David for sharing his expertise.
Thankyou to everyone who made the weekend possible, to our visiting guests and mentors, and to those who provided refreshments – a great weekend !
All we need to do now is more practice and perform well on the day – November 18th.
