Sunday 11th November 2018, 100 years to the day of the end of hostilities in World War One and it was a busy day for Tendring Brass. We had buglers playing The Last Post at 23 different remembrance ceremonies around the Tendring Peninsula; two smaller ensembles in Walton-on-the-Naze and Holland-on-Sea respectively, supporting the nationwide Beacons event; as well as our own remembrance concert, “Lest We Forget”, at the West Cliff Theatre Clacton, where we were supported by CADS – Clacton Amateur Dramatic Society, Tendring Male Voice Choir and Chase Lane Primary School and Nursery Choir. We have put on a concert of remembrance for the last 18 years and this was quite possibly one of the best! The band were on fine form, the choirs in fine voice and the near capacity audience was fantastic and highly appreciative! It is always a great honour, pleasure and a privilege to be able to put on this event, especially when we get to involve so many other talented individuals! But it is the act of remembrance that makes it all worth while, a moment of reflection and contemplation that it is impossible not to be moved by.
